Council gets smart in leading award bid
STOCKPORT Council have reached the final three in the Digital Leaders 100 Awards ‘Smart City’ category, following a public vote to determine the finalists.
The overall winner will be the council that demonstrates it has advanced its Smart Agenda fastest and furthest in the past year and will be announced at the DL100 virtual awards ceremony on 15th October.

Citizen Focus and Engagement said: “We’re a radical Digital Council, interested in our residents’ experiences and focussed on discovering what people need from the place they live in or work in.
“We’re using these insights to rethink our service delivery and our role as a local authority.
“Smart Stockport is about using data and technology to create efficiencies, improve sustainability, promote economic development, and enhance quality of life factors for people living and working in Stockport.
“It’s great news for Stockport residents.”
Stockport Council’s nomination for the award referenced innovations including:
the country’s first Mayoral Development Corporation to focus on a town centre
Carecall and Dignio home care technology supporting residents to remain living independently for longer
the development of an All Age Campus and an Academy of Living Well
the DigiKnow Alliance providing support for those who don’t have access to digital technology or don’t have digital skills through established and trusted community groups and organisations
collaborations with Stockport College and local employers to build digital skills for now and for the future with the Digital Her programme and the Digital Academy
promoting and supporting the specialist digital tech sector via the South Manchester Digital Network and Lean Agile meetups
Digital Leaders is a nationwide initiative for promoting effective, long-term digital transformation across government, industry and charities.
The DL100 list is created by public vote and celebrates the teams and individuals who are working hard behind the scenes to secure the UK’s Digital Transformation.
