Vision of club awe inspiring

- IAN BROWN

WE have all looked on with a mix of awe and excitement to see Mark Stott’s plans for County begin to show up in ‘bricks and mortar’ inside and outside our great historic stadium.

Mainly I have been boggling at the cladding being added to the exterior of the Cheadle End. That which is already in place is impressive enough, but the facebook and twitter previews of the projected finished article leave me gasping with admiration.

Much else is in motion too, and it is particularly good to see bearing in mind the effect the current pandemic has had on all business plans, and with the dire news of Macclesfield Town’s plight also surfacing, it is doubly so.

There are never any guarantees in this harsh world, but the new County era is off to a promising start, both on and off the park!

Meanwhile, for the Supporters Cooperative this period has been one of considerable heart searching as the effects of Covid 19 meant that not only did we have to cancel our popular ‘Football Season Calendar’ and the equally keenly anticipated credit card style ‘Fixture List’ but our flagship event the hugely significant ‘Hatters Half Marathon’ had to be moth balled for a year also.

This was a huge disappointment to lose, however temporarily, this brilliant event that showcased club, the town and of course the Supporters Cooperative whose successful promotion it is.

And, we have to announce the imminent end of an era so to speak, in that after some years of being allowed by the club to use the cabin in the car park as a hub to reach County fans, we are on the move, probably to the Family Lounge.

So when you can, seek us out there on match days, we’d love to see you!
