Charity handed £48,000 from National Lottery

- BY EXPRESS REPORTER

ASTOCKPORT charity is one of 14 charities and voluntary organisations to be awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Sector3, which supports the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors across Stockport, won £48,000 of the £600,000 fund.

The charity said the money will allow them to build their organisational capacity to offer the sector more support with ‘data, insights and impact’.

Jo McGrath, Sector3’s strategic lead, said the funding will also help third sector organisations deliver frontline services to the borough’s most vulnerable communities.

She said: “We are delighted to have won funding from the National Lottery.

“The money means we can invest in equipping our third sector with the knowledge and tools to help secure their legacy.

“With competition for funding and demand for services increasing, data and insight will help to bolster evidence of the significant impact Stockport’s third sector organisations have on the health and economy of local communities.”

“The more organisations that are part of the network, the greater our collective knowledge and ability to support our communities to thrive.”

The organisation’s aim is to join the dots between sectors in order to unlock opportunities for growth, enabling the local sector, and therefore local communities, to thrive.

Sector3 was launched in 2020 to support the sector during a time of financial uncertainty and rising demand.

It now offers an online forum for local organisations and groups to meet, and a website containing the latest funding opportunities and resources for development.

Sector3 has set up their own funding programmes, solely aimed at supporting Stockport organisations in delivering frontline services.

Other organisations to receive funding were Edible London for their project to support North London food organisations, Gypsy, Roma and Travellers Together, Voluntary Organisations’ Network North East, and the National Federation of

Young Farmers’ Clubs.

Cassie Robinson, deputy director for funding strategy at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “We’re delighted that thanks to National Lottery players we are able to support a range of established and emerging infrastructure organisations with the opportunity, space and time to plan for the future.

“We understand that for grassroots, communityled and frontline organisations across the UK to be adaptive and resilient there’s a need for a diverse and effective support system, which includes infrastructure organisations, and this is especially true during the Covid pandemic.”
