Pupils threatened by mobile phone robbers

SCHOOLCHIL­DREN were threatened for their mobile phones during robberies in Stockport, police said.

Officers said youngsters were targeted by thieves on Heaton Mersey Common, next to Priestnall High School, between 3pm and 3.30pm on Monday, March 22.

Police are urging anyone with informatio­n to contact the force.

A GMP statement, posted on Facebook, said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged robbery where threats were made to school aged children to “hand over their phones”.

“The offences occurred on Heaton Mersey Common adjacent to Priestnall High School, between 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm on Monday 22nd March 2021. “
