Jordan out in front as Vale return to action

REDDISH Vale’s men bounced back into action in a Pro’s Stableford and Jordan Wood was out on his own with 41 points. The other highlights came from Mike Radcliffe and Colin Farrow who both finished with spectacula­r eagle two’s on the 18th hole.

An All Members singles Stableford Competitio­n off Red and White Tees opened the new season at Mellor and Townscliff­e.

The winner was Club Secretary Karen Jones who scored a superb 39 points. In second place was Fraser Morris with 37 points.

Then Joel Greasley, David Morrell and Jonathan Coverley came in with 35 points each.

It was a very successful day and everyone was so pleased to be back on the course which had been very well maintained during lockdown.

Gatley’s men played a singles Stableford won by Anthony Stevens with 37 points, one more than Barrie Uttley.

It was close at Hazel Grove Seniors with Bernard Symcock winning a cpo on 38 points from Peter Clayton.

Grove’s ladies played a Three Ball am am and the hot trio of R Lupton, R Patel and M Farrell cruised home with 66 points, six more than K Norbury, K Edwards and J Metcalf.

A Two division Stableford for New Mills men saw division one topped by Alan Forbes after a cpo on 39 points from Steve Kirkham.

Ian Pulley was out on his own in division two with 40, two more than James Ignotus and Rodger Mycock.

Steven Rogers was untouchabl­e in a Sunday Stableford at New Mills posting 38 points, four more than Leon Telford.
