Parkinson in seventh heaven after Kent win

- CRICKET

MATT Parkinson believes Lancashire’s bowlers can come out on top against any opposition on any surface this season.

The Red Rose made it back-to-back wins in the LV= Insurance County Championship with a convincing innings and five run win over Kent at Canterbury. Spinner Parkinson, who was left out of the side for their first round draw with Sussex two weeks ago, led the way with 7-126 to help dismiss the home side for 351 in their second innings on the final day to wrap up the win.

“It was probably the best four-day win I’ve had,” said Parkinson.

“There were times when we did doubt that we would win, but I think that’s part of the attitude of the team now that on any surface, with any score, we’d back our bowlers.”

Lancashire sealed the win when Parkinson who bowled 52 overs in the innings – drew an inside edge from Miguel Cummins and he was caught by Keaton Jennings at short leg.

“Coming into this game I was a bit nervous, about going from Old Trafford which I’m used to, to a very flat surface but I relaxed into a long spell,” added Parkinson.

“It’s testimony to the energy we’ve got at the minute, it’s a massive change from what I’m used to in this Lancashire side for us to have that belief.

“From 200-1, I don’t think many teams in the country would have won from there.”
