We’re winning and winning in superb style

- FAN’S VIEW IAN DOOLEY

IN a week where football has been headline news due to greedy people becoming super greedy it was great to see County just getting on with doing what they do best, winning games of football, not just winning but winning in style.

Boreham Wood have, over the past couple of seasons been a hard nut to crack, we’ve never beaten them.

Earlier this season we only managed a hard fought draw after John Rooney hit a beauty.

They’re a big, strong, tough side and play to their strengths to great effect. So a 0-3 win at their Meadow Park ground was truly a great result.

We were so dominant that Ben Hinchliffe had one of his quietist afternoons of the season.

The defence never looked like being beaten, MOTM Hogan along with Palmer and Jennings were simply superb, our midfield controlled the game with Rooney, SouthamHales, Collar, Walker and Croasdale working as a well oiled machine while up front Cardwell and Madden were a continuous threat to the home defence.

We opened the scoring after 15 minutes when Ash Palmer at the back post, headed in a James Jennings corner with precision and power.

The second came on the half hour when John Rooney sent in another goal of the season contender.

Leaving John all alone 20 yards from goal is never a good idea and to the home side’s detriment, that’s just what they did and with a beautiful dipping shot we were two up.

The second half was much the same as the first. Boreham Wood huffed and puffed but it was County that kept their cool and continued to dominate.

Alex Reid scored the third after a bit of passing play that wouldn’t have looked out of pace in any division.

Rooney slipped the ball to Southam-Hales who placed the ball right at the feet of County’s leading marksman, game over. Heads dropped in the home team, even the commentary duo sounded like they’d given up on the game.

The majority of other games went our way with all our play off rivals dropping points so if we can carry on in the same vein we could very well make those top 3 places and guarantee a home game where we can all attend and make ourselves heard. After all we’ve now gone 11 games unbeaten with a plus 20 goal difference and with another 2 away games coming up (Kings Lynn and Halifax) why shouldn’t that run continue?
