Shop heralds new era for mothers’ ruin
STOCKPORT Gin has opened its new town centre premises with the help of the borough mayor.
Mayor of Stockport, Greater Manchester, councillor Adrian Nottingham, opened the new gin shop and event space in St Petersgate on Sunday July 4.
Owned by husbandand-wife Paul and Cheryl Sharrocks and launched in 2019 the move means the pair will no longer have to brew their gin from a distillery in their garage.
During the opening Mayor Nottingham congratulated the couple and wished them the best for the future.
Cheryl said: “We are delighted to finally open our doors to the public after a few months of hard work to get the distillery and gin shop exactly how we want it. We are really looking forward to welcoming people in, and being able to show people exactly what we do and how we do it.”
“The new premises, we hope, will give people another reason to visit Stockport, not just to see us but also all the other wonderful places in and around the town centre.
“The amount of independent shops, bars and restaurants on offer now is incredible and we hope we can be a small part of that.”
The gin shop is located at 19B St Petersgate, Stockport, SK1 1EB and will be open Wednesday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm with details of tours and events to be announced soon.
Paul added: “Initially we are opening the shop for people to come in and view the space, and to buy our gins and other products.
“Then, once we know what the rules and restrictions are after July 21, we will be releasing tickets for sale so that people can come and take part in taster nights, distillery tours and other events that we have planned.
“People have been asking us for weeks when we will be open and when they can book onto a tour, so we can’t wait to be able to welcome people in and show people around!
“We hope what we have to offer will bring something new to the town centre and be somewhere that draws people in from further afield to see not only what we do but also what Stockport is all about.”
