Man’s fight for life after takeaway attack
POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a man was headbutted outside a takeaway in Stockport.
The attack happened outside the New Tai Wah takeaway on Belmont Street in Heaton Norris at around 8.10pm on Wednesday, May 5.
The victim - a man aged in his 40s - was approached by a man who headbutted him, causing him to fall backwards and bang his head on the ground.
He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and injuries to his face.
He had lifesaving surgery and has since been discharged from hospital, police said.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack.
Detective Constable Joel Massender, of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “This is a shocking assault which has resulted in a man requiring surgery for life threatening injuries.
“We will not tolerate behaviour such as this in Greater Manchester and have been following a number of lines of enquiry to identify the offender and ensure he faces justice.
“If anyone was in the area at the time or has any information that could help police with their investigation please do not hesitate to get in touch.”
