A new home at ground
COUNTY’S fixtures are out, new signings are beginning to check in at SK3 and season ticket sales have soared beyond 2,200 – to the back drop of general optimism from supporters, many of whom have spent hard earned money kitting themselves, and the kids, out in County’s latest crop of good looking home and away shirts.
For the Supporters Cooperative, we are ready to go and looking forward to the new season and the opportunity to mix with the supporters on matchday again.
It is not just a case of ‘mixing’ though.
Previous seasons saw us operating from the Cabin in the Cheadle End car park, and from there it was possible for us to meet County supporters, both those in and out of Cooperative membership, and we’ve signed a good few in that latter category from the Cabin over the years.
The Cabin was however a wonderful hub that gave the supporters a genuine chance to regularly make contact with Supporters Cooperative board members, get a serious question answered, or just have a chat, and it was with a heavy heart that we agreed to vacate the humble wooden facility on request from the club.
We were concerned that a vital link between the supporters and ourselves might be gone for ever.
Not everything in life ends up being bad news however, and we were delighted to agree to operate from a handy site between the Cheadle End turnstiles and the steps leading down to the car park.
We think we can offer the same level of service from our new position, and we are greatly looking forward to starting back on August 2 when County take on a City team in a pre-season friendly.
We’ve acquired a blue gazebo too, so look out for us on matchdays.
