Extra sizzler set to spice up cash race

-

A POPULAR running series is adding a very special race this year, with entry fees going to St Ann’s Hospice in support of local patients.

Every year Sale Harriers hosts four popular 5km Sizzlers Runs, which attract hundreds of runners of all ages and abilities to take part.

The series has raised thousands of pounds for the hospice over the years, with bucket collections and other fundraising activities, but this year organisers have decided to add a special fifth race to raise even more for the local cause.

The Sale Harriers Neil Cliffe 5K will take place on Wednesday 11th August at 7.30pm at Wythenshawe Park.

Entry fee is £9 plus a £1.90 booking fee, with the proceeds donated to the hospice.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, said: “Fechin McCormick and the team at Sale Harriers are so incredibly supportive of the hospice, and we can’t thank them enough for putting on this special run in aid of our patients.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced runner or a beginner, please do sign up to take part – it’s a brilliantly fun event and everyone is welcome.

“We’d love to see as many people there as possible, especially as we continue to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year.”

The team from St Ann’s will be selling limited edition merchandise on the night, and there will also be an appearance from hospice mascot Stan.

St Ann’s is one of the oldest and largest hospices in the UK, and is celebrating its 50th birthday with a variety of events and activities throughout 2021.
