OFFICERS are trying to track down the owners of a number of items, including golf clubs and sports trainers, that were thought to have been dumped in a park after being found in stolen vehicles.

On Thursday (October 21), officers from the Tactical Vehicle Interception Unit responded to reports of a stolen BMW X5 from Cheadle.

The car was located in a car park off Park Avenue in Levenshulme.

Upon further investiga- tion, officers also located three tracking units, believed to have come from Mercedes vehicles, in the neighbouring car park.

A number of items were also recovered which police say are presumably contents from stolen vehicles.

The items found by police include two sets of golf clubs, a MaxiCosi ISOFIX base, Fila trainers, power tools, a steam cleaner and a TomTom satnav.

Police say the satnav had directions to ‘home’ listed in Heaton Moor but, upon investigation, the location was an unnamed road with no number.

Attempts to locate the owners of the stolen goods in the neighbouring areas has proven to be unsuccessful and police are now appealing for anyone who believes the items may be theirs to come forward.

Officers say it is likely the items have come from a stolen BMW, Audi, Mercedes or Volkswagen.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “On 21/10/2021, the Tactical Vehicle Interception Unit responded to live tracking on a stolen BMW X5 from Cheadle which was stolen that same day.

“The vehicle was located in a car park off Park Avenue in Levenshulme and officers checked in the neighbouring car park too.

“In the neighbouring car park, 3 Mercedes tracking units were recovered along with the contents of multiple boots.

“The items found were 2 sets of golf clubs, a MaxiCosi

ISOFIX base, Fila trainers/boots, a TomTom sat nav and various other items which you can see on the pictures attached.

“The SatNav had directions to ‘home’ in Heaton Moor but to an unnamed road with no number so enquiries were done in the neighbouring areas with no one coming forward to claim the items.

“We believe the items likely belong to a stolen BMW, Audi, Mercedes or Volkswagen.”

Anyone who recognises the items can contact police via 101, quoting reference number 1041 of 21/10/2021.
