Winter fairs on move to new homes

-

THIS November, the hospice is holding two family-friendly winter fairs to celebrate the festive season and help people prepare for Christmas in style, whilst raising valuable funds for local hospice patients.

Everyone is welcome at the events, which promise to be a real feast of family fun, with mince pies, mulled wine, gift stalls, tombolas, festive entertainment and of course a visit from Santa too.

Previously the fairs took place at the hospice’s sites in Little Hulton and Heald Green.

But, in order to keep patients safe, the charity has made the decision to hold them at new locations this year.

On Sunday, November 21, the fair will be at Rose Walker Community Centre in Cheadle Heath and on Sunday, November 28, the fair will be at Walkden Legion in Walkden.

Both will take place from noon to 3pm and it is just £1 entry for adults, with accompanied children free.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, said: “Coming along to one of our Winter fairs is the perfect way to kick off the festive season and they are incredibly popular with local families.

“Of course, as well as being a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, the fairs also help us to raise valuable funds to support our patients and their families.

“As Christmas approaches, we really want to make the time as special as possible for everyone we care for, and the money raised at events like these helps us to make a huge difference to their lives.”

Rachel added: “They also offer people the opportunity to donate unwanted items, such as unopened gifts, bottles and chocolates that will help us to raise money to help our patients.

“It can be difficult to throw away an unwanted gift when you know someone has put time and effort into choosing it, and donating items like this to a local charity is a guilt free solution.

“We can find a new home for unopened toys, gift sets, chocolates and bottles and so on, so people can have a pre-Christmas de-clutter knowing that they are also supporting those with life-limiting illnesses and their families.”

Donations can be dropped off at the hospice’s sites in Meadowsweet Lane (off Peel Lane) in Little Hulton and St Ann’s Road North in Heald Green.

St Ann’s Hospice is one of the oldest hospices in the UK and is celebrating its 50th birthday this year.

It cares for people affected by life-limiting illnesses from its sites in Heald Green and Little Hulton, as well as via a range of community and outreach services.
