Where to gather in tribute to our fallen heroes
IT’S 103 years since the guns fell silent on the battlefields of Belgium and France, ending the conflict that was World War One.
The killing ended in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918 and every year Remembrance Day is marked on the Sunday on or after November 11.
This year, it’s on Sunday, November 14.
It’s a time when many of us think of our grandfathers, great grandfathers, or other relatives or ancestors who made the ultimate sacrifice for their county.
And it has also become the day on which many of us also remember all others that have died serving in our armed forces in military conflict across the globe.
Last year, Remembrance Day events across Stockport were largely cancelled as a result of Covid-19 pandemic.
Following the relaxing of restrictions, there is a chance to pay our respects to those people who gave their lives so that we could enjoy the freedom we have today.
