Round of 42 secures victory for Ellershaw

A MIDWEEK Stableford at Avro was won by Derek Ellershaw with a formidable 42 points taking him clear of Michael McDonagh 40 and Gordon Fetherston and Robert Worsley, both 38.

Plenty of action at Marple with a Three Clubs and a Putter Stableford with division one led in by Mark Walton with34 from Angus Rae 33, Gordon Mutch 31 and John Tennant 30. in division two Andrew Short was top of the shop with 35 from Robert Wilkinson 34 and David Hunt and James Walsh, both 33.

James Garrod was the star of division three with 39 from Gary Wilkinson 36 and Bill Tennant and Bob Newcombe, both 34.

A Two division Seniors Stableford at Marple had David Robinson top of division one with 32 from Keith Nadin 29 and Colin Fielden and Ken Davies both 28.

A Pro’s Midweek Stableford at Marple had John Gillatt in a league of his own with 43, four more than Robert Wilkinson and Iain Henderson.

Marple ladies were in team mode in a Hat, Cracker and Chocolate Stableford with L Andrew and E Pierce on top with 45 from I Chadwick and Kay Gould-Martin 44 and Karen Buchanan and Linda Field 42.

Reddish Vale played a BB Stableford supporting the green-keepers and J Hopkins and L Costello led in with 38, one more than T Ingham and L Hopkins, Tony Barnes and N Goddard and D Hayes and T Walker, all 37.

The Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs has announced that the County President for 2022 is to be Martyn Grimley of Ringway GC.

Martyn is not only a very accomplished golfer but also an Olympic Gold Medallist having been a member of the victorious Great Britain Hockey team at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
