New benches are in the can
A PRIMARY school has welcomed the donation of school benches made from recycled paint cans.
Housebuilder Redrow has donated the benches to Ladybrook Primary School in Bramhall as well as a newly painted play pod.
In recent years, Redrow has increased the volume of paint cans it recycles, using Crown Paints’ can recycling scheme which miraculously transforms paint cans into products and new materials such as benches, picnic tables and planters.
Debbie Presswood, head teacher at Ladybrook Primary School, said: “We would really like to thank both Redrow and Crown for organising this community project which has enhanced the provision at Ladybrook for the children.
“The lovely new benches are perfectly positioned adjacent to the multi-use games area and playground so that children can sit and chat or watch games being played.
“We have been impressed by the professional approach by both Redrow and Crown, the excellent communication with the school and quality of work completed.”
Mike Casey from local groundwork firm, MKC Groundwork Ltd, kindly installed the benches free of charge at the primary school.
Neil Harrow, commercial director at Redrow NW, said: “Our suppliers Crown Paints provide all paint for our new homes across the country.
“In this instance, because the North West division had the highest rate of paint cans sent for recycling within the Redrow group, we were given the opportunity to donate an item.
“We approached Ladybrook Primary School, located near to our Woodford Garden Village development, and asked if they would like a recycled item and they requested two benches.”
