COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE
BY IAN BROWN
WITH Christmas and New Year out of the way the board of the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative were at last able to commence the process of making their mark on 2023.
First up we decided that top of the agenda was a meeting with the Club and with our in-tray already bulging with questions, our Chairman Pete Towey is now looking to arrange that as soon as possible.
On contact twixt Club and the Cooperative it is good to report that following our approach on the subject of unopened Cheadle End turnstiles at the Walsall game that caused unnecessary problems, that the Club had ensured that the necessary turnstiles were open early for the game with Northampton!
We have previously reported that a membership drive was imminent, but before that is put into place, we felt some necessary housekeeping was in order to make a fairly large number of ‘lapsed members’ aware of this fact and invite them to update their account and thus their membership with us.
To this effect a letter went out on 16 January and we look forward to reporting the outcome of this- many of the ‘lapsed members’ we are sure have lapsed inadvertently so we hope to be able to report a happy outcome on this.
Meanwhile work by Hannah Stewart our brilliant sculptor continues to show remarkable progress and with a meeting with Hannah upcoming shortly we will be able to present a more detailed report soon.
In addition, we are poised to recommence fund raising to cover installation and erection costs for the life sized bronze statue and rumour has it that a new sporting event is coming very soon (more next week in this column hopefully).
See you on the Grassy Knoll next home match!
