COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE
WITH sculptor Hannah Stewart starting the process of casting the Danny Bergara statue clay into bronze it is good to see that fund raising efforts are continuing to cover essential costs around the statue erection outside Edgeley Park.
Our `Make Us An Offer’ series of auctions opened adding £387 to the coffers, and Help the Hatters are looking at possibly running another Programme & Memorabilia Fair at Edgeley Park in support of statue funds.
Other projects are pending but it is always good when one such emanates from the fan base and in this respect we were greatly heartened to hear from County fan Damon Carroll who confirmed that he will be doing a bike ride from Hartlepool FC stadium to Edgeley Park on Monday 8 May, arriving in time for the statue unveiling before County’s final scheduled league game against Hartlepool.
We were immediately struck by the idea which will see Damon raising money for and awareness of the Danny Bergara Statue Appeal and charities Mentell and Stroke Information who do such fine work in Stockport.
Damon does fine work too and this latest effort by him is but one of many that he has undertaken over the years raising funds for worthy causes; a mix of gruelling walks and bike rides typified by his effort in 2017 when just before kick-off time he arrived in Bradford the scene of County`s game against Park Avenue.
Damon had walked the 39 miles in support of Stroke Information in a magnificent 13 hours and received a tremendous reception from the large County following who had taken the conventional routes of car, coach or train to the Yorkshire venue!
