Team events are always a popular feature of the Alliance winter programme and there was another full field at Bury GC enjoying the experience of a challenging course on a cold day.

The pin positions on the greens presented tricky problems but Bury pro Chris Bibby solved the problems by holing six putts from over 25 feet (he did miss some from two feet as well!).

Chris Joined Sean Blinkhorn (Leigh) and Tim Maxwell (Knutsford) on 34 points in the individual pro section in joint third spot.

Ahead of them were Grant Hamerton (Pike Fold) with an excellent haul of 38 and the consistent Alistair Waddell (Chorlton) 35.

Dukinfield Golf Club pro Dave Green has been in top form in the second half of the Alliance winter programme and he helped a very positive team of Paul Crisp and Gary Hampstead (Ashtonon-Mersey) and Steve McClure (Dukinfield) to an excellent winning score of 86 points.

Next in on 83 were the Chorlton fab four of Alistair Waddell, Steve Whitfield, Ed Cooper and James Uren.

Winning a cpo on 80 to take third spot were the Andy Lomas team from Ashton-under-Lyne GCEddie Sidebottom, Darren Wilson and Steve McGee.

The nearest the pin winner was host club’s Doug Hiles. Bury Golf Club gave great support to the Alliance both on and off the course to add to the smooth organisation of the day and players are advised to book well in advance as places on the upcoming events are filling rapidly.
