Ladies Day goes from strength to strength

HEATON Moor Golf Club ladies celebrated the Grand National Week Ladies Day with a Ladies Day at their club which has been very popular and well supported for the past seven years.

The ladies were able to dress up in their finery with hats a special feature to make it a most enjoyable and sociable day

There were 75 ladies in attendance enjoying a special lunch and race sweeps etc throughout the afternoon while watching the racing on the TV and carefully controlled by three very skilled male officials. Ladies Captain Carol Chamberlai­n was delighted with the day and the rewards for a lot of hard work put in.

Carol said: “The event gets bigger every year which is great for the ladies section and the money raised- over £700 - goes to support the ladies section.

“The bookmakers were Mark, Pete Jordan (dressed up) and Alan Butterfiel­d, the current Club President-thank you to them all. My thanks go to all of the ladies for making it such a fun and colourful day-as well as the caterers and bar staff for keeping us sustained.”

Bramhall ladies were in Stableford action and it was close with Danielle Allen winning a cpo on 29 with Sarah-Jane Moore.

The 9-hole winner with an impressive haul of 20 was Sheena Morgan.

Bramhall ladies played a Team of Three qualifier for the Cheshire Taylor Made competitio­n and representi­ng the club will be Pat Marriott, Sheena

Fidler and Carolyn Eadsworth who posted 75.

The 9-hole winners with 36 were Sally Merry, Pam Duke and Kris Herriott.

Bramhall’s men showed their generosity to Lady Captain Kath Ince’s charity Wood Street Mission as she sold raffle tickets for her parking space on Saturdays which raised £500.

A seniors Stableford at Avro was led in by Tim Bochenski 32 from Vic Tarr 30 and Paul Johnson 29.

The monthly medal at Avro had Neil Flood top of division one with 68 from Ian Hallworth 69 and Michael Thornber 70.

In division two Paul Johnson was top man with 71 from Mark Hampshire 73 and Steve Yule 74.

A ladies Stableford at Avro was won by Kirsty Balderson 31 from Gabby Hampshirea­nd Alison Wright, both 30.

The 9-hole winner was Elaine Biglen 14, one more than Liz Finch 13.

A Seniors Stableford at Hazel Grove had the divisions won by Brian Pearson after a cpo on 30 with Brian Dalton and David Hall 33.

A medal for Grove ladies saw Kara Powell top division one with 77, three less than Fiona Gradidge and Elaine Beswick.

Lindsey Withers topped division two with 76 and in division three Kathleen Edwards was first past the post with 80.

A medal at Houldswort­h needed a cpo on 70 to see Andrew Hurst lead in from Jon Milner and Steven Harding.

The monthly medal at Houldswort­h was won by David Walton 70 from

David Doughty 71 and Adam Russell who topped 10 players on 72.

A Seniors Stableford at Marple had the divisions won by Keith Wigey 36 and John Gillatt 31.

A midweek medal at

Marple needed a cpo on 71 to see Gary Wilkinson lead in from Bill Tennant, two more than Mark Walton and Anthony MacSteel.

A Stableford for Marple ladies had Anthea Keelan in a league of her own with 39 from club legend Jean Oates 33 and the 9-hole winner was Edna Wright 19.

A Mixed American Greensome at Stockport was won by L Stenson and L Carson 40, two more than S and T Royle and M and M Wharton.

A singles Stableford for Stockport ladies had Ruth Hughes on top with 34 from Natasha Brown 29 and Louise Meeks 28.

Gill McEvoy topped division two with 29 and the 9-hole winner was Karen Desai after a cpo on 14 with Beverley Hall.

The Seniors Spring Trophy at Stockport was won by Allan Wickes 40, three more than Rajesh

Desai. Monthly medal action at Stockport saw the divisions topped by Daniel Procter 65 and Ian Walters 69.

A pro’s Stableford at Reddish Vale was won by Michael Hall 40 from

Simon Nicholls 39 and Owen Stott, Ben Goulding and Luke Parkinson, all 38.

The Wednesday medal at Vale had the divisions led in by Craig Davies 71, Stewart Flint 74 and Richard Armstrong 68.
