COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE

- BY IAN BROWN

WE saw an example on Sunday of how effectively, when mobilised correctly, the County Family can do excellent things when they turned out in great numbers at Wembley to support the blues.

But, along with being a terrific spectacle and a fantastic boost for the team on the day, the numbers involved also give the Club a bold hint as to the potential upward movement of the Edgeley Park attendance figures in the near future, and hopefully emboldens decision makers at County to hasten the onset of the first stages of the stadium development.

The future holds forth great possibilities for County and as long as the Club take the supporters and the local community along with them in this process the future is bright irrespective of which division we ultimately finish up in.

As far as the Supporters Cooperative are concerned, we stand ready to play our part and we are encouraged by the small but significant increase in our membership we mentioned in this column last week, as we continue to act as the voice of County Supporters where it matters.

We have been greatly encouraged by the support of the fan base to our very successful statue campaign highlighted brilliantly in the last week by the offer of one ordinary County supporter to match donations to the statue appeal fund which finished up raising £879 in a four day effort that takes us to within £2000 of our target.

A couple of interesting fundraisers will follow shortly to hopefully complete our 2-year effort in the best possible way, after the final home game at Edgeley Park saw us on the Grassy Knoll linking up with Stockport charities Mentell and Stroke Information to raise £400 via a joint bucket collection!

Great stuff!
