Highlights aplenty in Kath’s year as captain

- GOLF GEOFF GARNETT

BRAMHALL Golf Club’s 2023/24 Lady Captain Kath Ince has enjoyed a very special year with numerous happy memories and wonderful competitions and social occasions.

Keth reflected on some of the highlights of her year: “When I was trying to write my report, I cast my mind back to some of the most memorable events in our diary, and each time I said to myself – ‘what was the weather like?’ As is our culture, we are ruled by the weather, we make plans around it, we talk about it, we moan about it – whatever it does! So, what has my Lady Captains year been like? – Wet!

“But despite the weather we had to endure on many days there were plenty of superb competitions, charity and social functions given great support by the ladies, club members and club staff and I can’t thank them enough.

“The season closed at the end of October and Ali, our Competition Secretary thought it would be a good idea to have a ‘Parade of Champions’. This was a chance for the winners of the majors throughout the year to be reunited with their trophies and make an entrance. It was a fun start to the evening.

“Following the presentation of the annual trophy winners we all sat down for dinner followed by: ‘Thank you for the Music’. After six weeks of gruelling rehearsals my committee put on the production of their lives. We hope you all enjoyed our Abba Tribute as much as we did.

I would also like to thank everyone for embracing my Charity, Wood Street Mission, and for supporting the Captains

The Ladies Section wouldn’t function without your Committee and heartfelt thanks to Competition Secretary, Ali, and her team

“A very special thanks to Jo who has been a brilliant Lady Vice Captain, always there for me when I needed her. I have had a wonderful Captain and President to work alongside and I would like to thank both Paul and Roger for their friendship and support.

A very special thank you to my hubby, Mel. There were weeks when I spent more time at the Club than at home, and despite health issues Mel has been understanding and totally supportive, and not a bad cook either!

“Finally. I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as Lady Captain. I have been proud to represent the ladies and the Club and I thank them all for giving me the chance to do this amazing job.”
