COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE

- BY IAN BROWN

THERE really shouldn’t have been tension in the air, but there was as 7pm approached on the evening of our Special General Meeting (SGM) at the Spinning Top.

We needed a minimum of 20 persons either present or logged in remotely for this important meeting to go ahead.

In the event the anxiety was misplaced as we were well quorate, 39 having turned out in person and eight more via our Zoom link.

It was especially gratifying to be able to facilitate and receive a question during the debates that followed from one of our ‘remote attenders!’

In addition to the usual business there were three other important matters to discuss, the first being our resubmitted application to SMBC for renewal of the Asset of Community Value which we had established for 10 years previous on Edgeley Park.

As we understood it, the Club were meeting the Council to clarify any issues on this, and we reiterated our interest in renewing providing no issues existed that would interfere with the Club’s upcoming refurbishment plans.

The decision on renewal of the ACV will be made by members, and it was agreed to accelerate contact with the club on the issue.

Discussion also took place on the lease on Edgeley Park and the Cooperative board confirmed they are in close contact with the Club on the matter and our patience was rewarded by the clubs positive announcement just a day later.

On Edgeley Park re-furnishment it was confirmed that the Club would hold a Public Consultation. It was resolved to ask for a firm date on this and also an assurance that it would happen before the match with Milton Keynes and avoid any problems for travelling County fans.

Topmost amongst remaining business was deciding our chosen charity for 2024 and it was agreed this again be the Wellspring.
