Take on Tour de Manc with your colleagues

-

THE Tour de Manc is taking place on Sunday, May 5 and you can get your place to put your pedals to the metal for company glory!

There are spaces still available for you to get a team together of your colleagues to cycle for St Ann’s Hospice.

Express Solicitors is taking on the challenge with six of their employees joining #Team St Ann’s and raising money for their local charity.

A further nine are volunteering at the Bolton feed station on the route of the race.

Express Solicitors has supported the past three Tour de Mancs, sponsoring the St Ann’s cycling jersey, volunteering at one of the feed stations to make sandwiches and brews for hungry cyclists as well as having a team take part in the ride.

Damian Bradley, partner – head of legal operations at Express Solicitors will be taking on the Tour de Manc, this year in the Manc Challenge, for the second time.

Inspired to take part in the cycling after being involved as a volunteer, he said: “Express has a long-term commitment to St Ann’s Hospice and the Tour de Manc has always been a fantastic event, even in the somewhat challenging weather conditions of last year!

“Express Solicitors is committed to being an involved, engaged and positive force in our local community and taking part in the Tour de Manc is a perfect way to demonstrate that.

“We have a few keen cyclists at Express and a skilled volunteer team of butty makers who always enjoy helping out on the day. It’s a really fun event, with terrific camaraderie.

“You enjoy some great views along the routes, and most importantly, it’s all for a really good cause.”

There is a variety of distances to suit riders of all abilities. There are four routes you can choose from: Northern Quarter (32 miles), Manc Challenge (75 miles), Classic Full Manc (108 miles) or the Mad Manc (126 miles).

Five members of the DAY Project Management Team supported St Ann’s Hospice by cycling the April 2023 Tour de Manc.

Fiona Mcloughlin, senior project manager, is a resident of Heald Green and lives very close to the hospice, with this challenge being close to her heart as she drives past it most days.

Before taking part in the race, Fiona said: “Fundraising for St Ann’s Hospice is high up on the list for our social value commitments this spring.

“St Ann’s Hospice is a special charity close to our hearts. As a Manchester based business and as St Ann’s is a Manchester based hospice, we’re all really keen to push ourselves (a long way) out of our comfort zones to raise vital funds.”

Prices start from £30.00 depending on your chosen route but whichever you choose, you get £5 off Tour De Manc prices when you sign up with St Ann’s Hospice.

With your discounted place, St Ann’s ask that you aim to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship for them.

Damian Lacey, advanced clinical practitioner at St Ann’s Hospice, is taking part in the Classic Full Manc.

He said: “I did the Tour De Manc last year and absolutely loved it. It was so much fun, the views were brilliant but I am hoping for more sunshine this year!

“I commute to work most days, cycling 20km there and back so I’m always telling people to get on their bike and cycle around.

“I’m hoping to get a group together from St Ann’s Hospice to complete the Tour de Manc with me, it’s great that all levels of ability can take part and I encourage everyone to come along and give it a go.”
