Les Adshead is retiring from his role as course manager at Bramhall Golf Club after a remarkable span of 52 years at Bramhall - probably one of the longest-serving green keepers in one club in the region which is much appreciated by the club members.

Les outlined his time in the role: “I started my career at Bramhall in 1972 and the club encouraged me to go to college to develop my green keeping skill and education and in 1979 the club promoted me to be the course manager.

“My biggest achievement was to change and develop the course with the planting of trees, tee building, paths and the building of the USGA golf greens.

“Green keeping has changed so much over the years and with today’s modern technology in science and machinery we are hoping to attract younger people into green keeping.

“I would like to thank my team for their hard work and dedication over the years and the past and present chairman of greens for all their support and guidance, plus all the members.

“I have really enjoyed my career at Bramhall Golf Club, and I will miss my team and all of the members.

“I am now looking forward to spending more time with my family and weekends away plus the occasional game of golf!”
