Stage is all set for a busy season

-

The countdown is on ahead of the start of Crieff Drama Group’s 2015/16 season.

The first event in a jam-packed programme is an open evening and annual general meeting at Strathearn Artspace on Comrie Street from 7.30pm on Tuesday next week.

Group chairperson Helen Day explained new faces would be made welcome on an evening designed to showcase everything Crieff Drama is about.

She continued:“With our new programme of events just starting up, it’s the ideal opportunity for newcomers to investigate the ins and outs of live stage performance, onstage and backstage.

“There are so many elements in every production – acting, of course, but also set building, lighting, décor, sound effects, costume, props, music, make-up, front of house and more.

“Being involved in the teamwork that live theatre involves is extremely exciting. Our focus is to give our audiences a great night out, and when that’s done there’s a real sense of achievement.”

First on this season’s bill is a staged reading of‘Lurve Actually’, to be held at Crieff’s Red Squirrel Cafe on October 14.

It is described as a pot-pourri of light hearted insights on matters of the heart.

Shortly afterwards, from October 21-23, the group’s ever-popular supper theatre will be presented in Morrison’s Academy Hall.

The evenings include a two-course meal, plus some short comedies.
