Plethora of plays are on in Comrie this weekend

-

Comrie and District Dramatic Society will be performing ‘A Handful of Plays’ this weekend.

With no less than five shorts on offer, Comrie Drama is all set to warm up the cold snap with its Springtime performances beginning tonight (Thursday) and also playing on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.

The White Church is the venue for the plethora of plays.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Prepare for an evening of one-act plays and sketches featuring murder, talking effigies, a little romance, more murder, a cheating husband and a lady in a towel.

“It’s an eclectic mix designed to test your detective skills … and your patience.

“While in ‘Murder at the Festival’ an intrepid inspector applies logic to solve the crime, Dick Piston, Hotel Detective, abandons all logic and reason when faced with a scantily clad young woman in ‘Murder by Midnight’.”

And clothing remains in short supply in the third sketch when a birdwatcher gets an eyeful in ‘Spotted Dick’. This short play has been written by local actor and producer George Carson, who also features in the play.

Meanwhile, the ‘Sleepers’ proves that “death us definitely do not part”, with marital strife surviving the long journey into the hereafter.

And finally, back in the land of the living, ‘Secretarial Skills’ tells a tale of love and other bruises.

Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm.

The White Church Bar will be serving throughout. Comrie Drama Group advises that there is some adult content in the plays.

Tickets are available from the White Church, Hansen’s Kitchen or by calling Ted Henderson on 07871 942164.
