Cultybraggan post appeal is just the job
Applications for roles but volunteers still needed
Moves to boost Cultybraggan Camp near Comrie appear to have captured the imagination.
Following the article in last week’s Herald and national advertising, Comrie Development Trust has said it is so far “very pleased” to have received a number of applications for both the project manager and the heritage activity and event organiser posts.
The jobs, described in detail on the trust website, will enable CDT to deliver the first phase of the Cultybraggan Development Project.
The Trust is particularly pleased at the response because of the support of two Perthshire-based funders, the Gannochy Trust and the Rural Perth and Kinross LEADER Programme 2014-2020.
Explaining the importance of the LEADER support, Jackie Brierton – chair of the local action group responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of the programme – said: “The award of £43,396 towards this community project is one of a number benefiting from the £3.8million share of LEADER and Scottish Government funds available for the development of rural communities and enterprise in Perthshire until 2020.
“This is a creative and innovative project which will protect, preserve and promote an important historic site and we are pleased we have been able to support it.”
CDT is hoping for equal success in its local campaign to recruit significant extra voluntary support for its board, working groups and other trust activities.
Anyone in the Strathearn area and beyond, with an interest in this work, and who would be able to provide voluntary time, is being asked to check out the information on the CDT website about the specific areas of work needing volunteer support.
Meetings have also been set up for anyone wishing to volunteer or find out more on Tuesday, May 30, at 2pm at Cultybraggan Camp and 7pm in the White Church, Comrie.
Helen Buchan, CDT board chair, said: “There is still time to get in an application for CDT’s two staff posts.
“We also want anyone with time available to support the work of the Trust to join us and hear about the volunteering opportunities at one of our meetings on May 30.
“So much has developed at our community owned site over the last 10 years, and we need staff and volunteers to take us forward now into CDT’s second decade.”

The closing date for applications for the two jobs is May 29.
