Ada the cowch is getting back to her routes

- LYNN DUKE

Another of the Crieff cowches is getting back to its ‘routes’.

The Strath capital’s Bob and Annie Anderson secured the cowch sponsored by The Crieff Food Co when the popular pieces of artwork went under the hammer to raise funds for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.

The cowch they bought was called The Drovers Coo and featured a design based on the old drove roads.

Bob and Annie used to own The Tower Hotel and Gastro Pub.

When they sold up last year, they bought a motorhome in which they spent four months away, coming back home when Annie’s mum, Ada, fell ill.

But now Ada is on the mend, they are on the road again – this time with Ada in tow strapped to the roof of Bob’s car.

But it’s not Bob’s mother- in- law that’s feeling the wind in her hair, as the Andersons have named their cowch after Annie’s mum and are taking ‘Ada the Crieff Coo’ with them on their travels to raise awareness and money for the Meningitis Research Foundation.

Ada the Crieff Coo now has her own Facebook page, and a fundraising web page has also been set up.

Bob told the Herald: “We have a lot of visiting to do. We are going up to see friends in Montrose, Skye and Inverness, and all over, so we thought we would go the way of the droving roads, which would be quite appropriate, and take her with us on the roof of the car and have some fun. She’s called Ada after my mother-in-law.”

Raising awareness of meningitis is a cause close to the Andersons’ hearts as their son, Colin, developed the dangerous infection when he was younger.

“If it hadn’t been for a doctor who recognised the systems immediately and had him blue-lighted to hospital, he wouldn’t be here now,” said Bob.

Bob and Annie are also looking into a suitable retirement home for Ada.

Bob added: “After we have done our travelling, we are going to leave her in Crieff for everyone to enjoy and we are currently looking at different places that Ada the Crieff Coo could be displayed.”
