B&M’s licence to sell booze conditional
Retailer B&M has been granted a provisional licence to sell alcohol at its Broich
Road store in Crieff.
Members of Perth and Kinross Licensing Board approved the off-sales application on Thursday last week.
An initial application was downgraded to a provisional premises licence over the course of the meeting.
Full permission will be granted subject to certain conditions being met.
These require written policies to be in place by the premises licence holder and all staff involved in the sale and consumption of alcohol in relation to what a spokesperson described as the “dispersal of patrons”and “preventing the purchase of alcohol by or for a child or young person”, all to the “continuing satisfaction of the board”.
Crieff Community Council submitted an objection in advance of the meeting.
Community council chair Harry Thomason told the December meeting of the group he had concerns in relation to the firm successfully obtaining the necessary paperwork.
These included the potential impact on the town’s pubs and the future availability of alcohol so close to the town’s Market Park exacerbating ongoing issues in relation to anti-social behaviour.
The B&M application was one of 11 licences granted by the board last week.
Although comprised of elected members on Perth and Kinross Council, the region’s licensing board is a separate legal entity.
