Shaping the future events
Auchterarder and Aberuthven residents are being encouraged to attend two exciting events later this month that will give them a say in what is important to them in their communities.
The Community Futures forums in Auchterarder, on February 26, and Aberuthven, on February 27, will give locals the chance to help shape the future for both areas, with the aim of making them both better places to live, work, and visit.
Us i n g i n f o rmat i o n gathered from the successful Community Views Survey, which collected over 650 responses from locals, as well as Community Conversations with around 40 groups and organisations, residents will be given the opportunity to consider the actions they would like to push forward for their communities.
And the steering group are encouraging a large turn out.
Themes that have been identified so far include community facilities and activities; safe and active travel; housing and services and traffic and parking.
The Community Futures events provide the opportunity for locals to vote on the priorities they believe to be most important, which will then be used to shape and form the five-year community action plan for Auchterarder and Aberuthven.
Attending the event will be local businesses, community groups and key partners.
There will also be an activity area for young people run by Logos Youth Project and the youth worker from Auchterarder Parish Church.
Community Connector Ang Laurie explained: “The events will give locals the opportunity to celebrate what is good about their communities whilst also being a time to reflect on what changes could be made to make them even better places to live, work and visit over the next five years.
“We are hoping for really large turn outs to both events as the community’s views are what will shape the formation of the Community Action Plan.”
The Community Futures events will run from 10am to 2.30pm in the Aytoun Hall, Auchterarder on Saturday, February 26, and from 1pm to 4pm in Aberthuven Village Hall on Sunday, February 27.
Funding and support for the community events and the community action plan has been provided through Rural Perth and Kinross LEADER, as part of a programme of support to enable rural Perth and Kinross communities.
Teas, coffees and tasty treats will be on offer at the events.
