Nominees for sports awards named
The finalists for the 32nd Perth and Kinross Sports Awards have been announced.
Organisers at Live Active Leisure (LAL) invited locals to submit their choices for one of 10 prestigious sporting awards by the end of January.
In partnership with Perth and Kinross Sports Council, the ceremony is designed to honour the clubs and individuals that have played an active role in the sporting life in the region, with entries judged on merits from January 1 to December 31, 2021.
The three nominations for the main Sports Personality of the Year award this year are Perthshire curling stars Eve Muirhead and Milli Smith – both of whom are currently representing Team GB at the Winter
Olympics in Beijing – and 2020 Tokyo OlympicS silver medal- winning 1500m runner Laura Muir, from Kinross-shire.
The winner will be announced at Perth Museum and Art Gallery on Friday, March 4.

Phil Coleman, community sport and partnership manager at LAL, said: “From performance athletes to local volunteers, these awards recognise the huge wealth of local sporting talent and the many achievements of local sports people, businesses and clubs.
“Celebrating the achievement and contributions of sporting people within the communities that we serve is hugely important to everyone at LAL.”
Nominees needed be a resident in Perth and Kinross for at least six months during 2021 and/ or have been affiliated to a club in Perth and Kinross in the same time period.
