Arts project bunting and pom pom appeal

-

As part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year, Crieff Community Arts is inviting locals to get creative or provide donations of materials for a project to brighten up garden parties that will be taking place in the area’s care homes this summer.

Artist June McEwen heads up Crieff Community Arts.

In the past her quirky initiatives have seen the Strath capital adorned with miles of bunting and yarn bombing.

In the Queen’s milestone year, June is looking for people to make bunting, pom poms and colourful tea cosies.

She told the Herald:“After all the time residents of care homes have had to spend being careful, this project to mark the Queen’s Jubilee of holding wee garden events sounded like just the thing to get involved with.

“I’ve decided to use the project as the first Crieff Community Arts project in over two years following Covid.

“It’s something lots of people can support. It’s colourful, fun and will add to a day of joy for many people rain or shine.

“In addition, the bunting and pom poms can be reused again and again. What’s not to like?”

Donations of wool and fabric can be handed in to Moka Artisan Gallery and Crieff Library where you can also pick up wool, fabric and bunting tape.
