Get more details on poultry shed plans

-

Locals have been invited to find out more about a bird breeder’s plans to form four new poultry sheds on land south- east of Crieff before a formal planning application is submitted to Perth and Kinross Council.

SAC Consulting is holding a pre- application consultation concerning Aviagen’s proposal to take down two existing sheds at Purreldeggie Farm and erect four new ones and has published details about it on its website.

Documents show the company intends to breed up to 6500 birds in each shed, which its says will be “state-of-the-art, energy efficient” and “designed for the purpose of maximising bird welfare and minimising the impact on the environment”.

The documents explain: “We are currently in the public consultation phase, prior to a planning application being submitted.

“The feedback received from this process will be addressed and shared with the planning authority and will feed into any subsequent planning application.

“After this consultation period the site design and plans will be finalised, and along with the environmental assessments and other supporting material will be submitted to the planning authority for their determination.

“Once the planning application is submitted this is the opportunity for local residents and stakeholders to make representation directly to council.”

SAC Consulting has also arranged for two public webinars to be held, setting out further details about the proposal.

One takes place from 6-7pm on Tuesday, March 1, while the other will run from 1-2pm on Tuesday, May 10.

Information about the proposal and how to join the two public webinars can be viewed online now at www.sruc.ac.uk/purreldeggie
