Vale knocked out of cup

-

Vale of Earn were knocked out of the North of Tay Cup following a 3-1 away defeat at Broughty Utd.

The visitors made numerous changes for Saturday’s trip to Dundee as a result of suspensions and other players being unavailable due to injuries.

But Vale made a good start and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Jordan Crerar looked to have been brought down in the box just as he was about to give his side the lead.

Broughty moved the ball around well and grabbed two quick goals.

Now chasing the game, Vale carried a threat throughout with Kros Brown and strike partner Crerar linking up well.

The away side got back into the game straight after half-time when a Kai Brown corner was poorly defended.

The ball was headed back towards goal by Crerar before it dropped to Kros Brown, who smashed home.

Vale huffed and puffed looking for the equaliser, with Euan Carter going closest, but the home side wrapped it up with a third and ran out deserved winners.

Vale are without a game this weekend. Elsewhere, Auchterarder Primrose saw their league match called off at the weekend as a result of the weather.

They are due to play fellow Division Two side Balmoral at home on Saturday this week in a 2pm kick-off.
