Young need new card to apply for free travel
Children and young people who are five to 21 years-old living in Scotland can now apply to access free bus travel.
But, before hopping on board, potential passengers need to request a new National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot
National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) – or update their existing card.
Parents or guardians must apply on behalf of five to 15 year-olds, while young people who are 16 to 21 years-old should apply themselves.
Applications for the NEC for those aged between five and 10 years can be made via the website ParentsPortal.
For 11 to 15 year-olds, parents or carers can apply via https://getyournec.scot/nec.
In addition, a new app has also been launched by Transport Scotland where 16 to 21 year-olds can add free bus travel to their existing Young Scot NEC.
Further information on how to apply is available from the website www.transport. gov.scot
