Motor firm gets behind Highland Games season
The Perthshire Highland Games Association (PHGA) puzzled members by calling its AGM in a Perth car showroom but the reason became clear when it was revealed that motor firm Struans was offering major sponsorship for 2022’s events.
Part of the tie-up will be free‘tour’ style t-shirts listing all the games dates for the first 100 hopefuls to register to compete at this summer’s 13 Perthshire events.
At the AGM this week PHGA chair Ian Stewart gave his report on the previous year when Covid lead to the complete cancellation of events.
He went on to inform the members of the many plans, ideas and announcements due to be released over the next few weeks as the PHGA looks forward to a successful return to Highland Games.
Arguably the biggest announcement of the night was that the website www. struans.com is to be PHGA’s main sponsor for the 2022 season.
Ian, from Crieff, thanked Myles Redford, Struans general sales manager, for the fantastic sponsorship package.
Myles commented:“As a Perthshire family-owned and run business with over 40 years of history, Struans is delighted to have been chosen as main sponsor for the 2022 Perthshire Highland Games Association calendar of events.
“The management and staff at Struans wish all of the athletes, pipers and dancers the very best of luck and success for this year’s events.”
Ian added:“This fantastic sponsorship package allows us to make this small token of appreciation to our many competitors who have had a real tough time of it over the last two years and welcome them back to Perthshire Highland Games.”
This announcement comes hot on the heels of last week’s announcement of a partnership with the Royal Scottish Highland Games Association and Crieff Highland Gathering in organising a Heavy Events Training Day in Crieff on Sunday, April 24.
