Poignant reasons for new bench

- JOHNATHON MENZIES

Friends of Old St Michael’s has installed another bench in the churchyard associated with one of Crieff’s most historic sites.

The wooden bench has been donated by Ancaster House following the closure of the Alligan

Road care home last week.

The plaque features the words of Robert Burns:“Man’s inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn.”

Local resident Craig Finlay is a volunteer with Friends of Old St Michael’s.

He explained:“This is the fourth bench we’ve added at Old St

Michael’s.

“Ancaster House began life in 1963 as the third care home for UK charity Blesma, providing support for injured veterans.

“With this in mind, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, we’ve added a plaque dedicated to all those whose lives have been affected by war and conflict.”
