LLocalsl joini peace march

-

Strath residents were among around 300 people took part in a march of peace in Perth on Saturday.

Representatives of many of the region’s churches joined the march, supported by Perth Action of Churches Together – a collective group which covers the whole of Perth and Kinross.

It started with a Mass led by Fr Bogdan Palka at St John the Baptist Church in Melville Street at 11am.

The procession then set off following a chosen route through the city centre on what was the day of the Feast of the Solemnity of St Joseph in churches around the world.

At the head of the procession, four pole bearers held aloft a statue of the Virgin Mary – which Fr Palka said was “a reminder of Pope Francis’s declaration that he will consecrate the people of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

Along the route through Perth, the marchers recited the Holy Rosary and other prayers.
