Local talent right on target as Crieff played host to latest Super Series event
There was once again a strong local contingent in action at the latest Perthshire Darts Association Super Series event.
Held at the Royal British Legion Scotland clubrooms in Crieff on Saturday, Neil MacDougall won the men’s competition after getting the better of Fraser Deacon 4-0 in the final.
Beaten semi-finalists were Carl Stone and Ross MacDougall.
Clare Cruickshanks won her second women’s event in a row after she defeated Sarah Christie 3-1 in the final at the Perth Road venue.
Theresa Hill and Lorna Reilly made it to the semi-final stage.
There was also further success for Brian
Welsh, who won the consolation competition for a second time in succession after beating Daryl Stewart 2-1 in the final.
Jamie Robertson and Jamie MacPhee made it to the semi-final stage of that section.
Ross MacDougall, Scott Pirie and Fraser Deacon currently occupy the top three league places in the men’s section after five events.
Sarah Christie, Michelle Cruickshanks and Theresa Hill sit in the top three positions in the women’s league table following the most recent action at the oche.
Organisers have said details for the sixth event in the series – which is being held for the first time at venues across the region – will be announced in due course.
However, it is expected there will be separate contests for men and women as has been the
case at each of the events so far, as well as a consolation competition for those who fail to win in the first round of fixtures.
Cash prizes and Super Series ranking points will also be available.
The events are being held across Perthshire on the originally-proposed county darts match dates.
The dates have been freed-up as the region has withdrawn from this year’s Scottish Inter-County League.
Those behind the Super Series have said the staging of all events is subject to the relevant Scottish Government Covid-19 precautions in place at the time of each event.
