Classic cars on Rotary run

-

The Perthshire Classic Car Tour 2022 hit the road recently to raise more funds for charity.

Organised by the Rotary clubs of Perth and Blairgowrie, an impressive line-up of 86 classic cars assembled at McDiarmid Park, home of St Johnstone Football Club, from 7.30am on April 24.

Provost of Perth and Kinross, Dennis Melloy and Rotary Club of Perth president, Joe Cairns, flagged the drivers off for the beginning of their adventure.

There was an opportunity for spectators to view the cars and watch them depart the stadium, before journeying north through rural Perthshire along the banks of Loch Tay.

It was then time to meander through the scenic Glencoe region to the Isles of Glencoe Hotel, where the cars stopped for a sandwich lunch and, in some cases, a refill of petrol.

The return route was south through Glencoe, along Loch Earn and through Comrie before finishing at Crieff Hydro Hotel at around 5pm.

Various awards were presented by both the provost and Lord-Lieutenant Stephen Leckie at a light dinner for the participants.

HRH The Duke of Kent and HRH Prince Michael of Kent were in attendance.

An auction and raffle were also held, which helped add to an already successful charity fundraiser.

The event was held in aid of the My Name’ 5 Doddie Foundation, Prostate Scotland and Rotary International.
