Strath Marathon entries still open
Organisers hope for return to traditional format
....we expect to get back to a more ‘normal’ format this year

Keen runners have been reminded that entries are still being taken for this year’s Strathearn Marathon.
Organised by host club Strathearn Harriers, the event will see hundreds of runners gather at Cultybraggan Camp near Comrie and tackle the picturesque course on Sunday, June 12, from 9am.
The route takes in predominantly quiet ‘B’ roads in the area, starting and finishing at the camp just outside the village, with about 1500 feet of ascent.
Organisers have said a more traditional format is expected to be used this year in the wake of last year’s event being staged in accordance with the Covid-19 guidelines at the time.
A spokesperson said: “We’ll be following any guidance given by Scottish Athletics, but we expect to get back to a more ‘normal’ format this year.
“That means a mass start, chip timing, a range of prizes, and food, refreshments and unique Squirrel medal for all runners.
“Race clothing will be available separately and at additional cost from a third party supplier.
“The race takes place on public roads which are not closed to traffic which means that, under UK Athletics (UKA) rules, runners are not allowed to wear ‘in-ear’ headphones or similar devices.
“Runners who choose to wear such headphones are not covered by race insurance.
“We therefore strongly recommend that you comply with this UKA rule, which has been introduced primarily on safety grounds, but if you do choose to wear headphones we ask you to keep the sound level low enough to hear marshals’ instructions and to remove them when approaching road junctions.”
The entry fee is £ 25 – or £ 23 for members of Scottish Athletics.
The spokesperson explained: “Please also note that the reduction to entry fees of £2 per head is only available to people who are members of Scottish Athletics.
“This is because Scottish Athletics require us to pay a £2 levy for all other runners regardless of membership of any other athletics federation.”
