Graham to stand for Tories
Luke Graham has been selected to stand for the Scottish Conservatives in the new Perth and Kinross-shire seat in the next General Election.
Mr Graham was previously the MP for Ochil and South Perthshire from 2017 to 2019, representing the party as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Cabinet Office, Housing and Communities and as a member of the Public Accounts Committee.
During Mr Graham’s time as the MP for the area he was one of those involved with the Tay Cities Deal negotiations, which saw £1 million secured for a Crieff International Highland Centre and £1m for
Aerospace Kinross.
In addition, he worked with Perth and Kinross Council to secure £10m-worth of UK government funds for the Perth Museum project.
Commenting on his selection, Mr Graham said:“I’m delighted to have been chosen to stand for the Scottish Conservatives in the new Perth and Kinross-shire seat.
“This new seat is a head-to-head between the SNP and the Scottish Conservatives.
“During my time as MP for Ochil and South Perthshire, I stood up for our area, secured millions in funding and held over 300 surgeries in just over two years.
“I will be holding the SNP to account for their failures in Perthshire but, more importantly, will be proposing positive alternative solutions.”
The constituency stretches across 10 Perth and Kinross Council wards: Carse of Gowrie; Strathearn; Kinross-shire; Almond and Earn; Perth City Centre; Perth City North; Perth City South; part of Strathmore; part of Strathtay, and part of Strathallan.
The new neighbouring Stirling and Strathallan seat takes in the remainder of the Strathallan ward.
