Organisers of a poignant charity night in Auchterarder have thanked all those who contributed towards the “phenomenal” final total.

More than £8200 was raised during the MRC Casino Charity Ball at Auchterarder Golf Club.

The event was some six months in the making and was organised by Gillian and Michael Mackie, Ruth and Bobby Knox and Laura and Stefan Barr.

Proceeds raised on the night are to be donated to Sands, which provides support to anyone affected by the death of a baby.

Gillian explained: “We wanted to do something in memory of our angel babies – Michael, Rachael and Callum.

“The night was a great success and everyone had a lovely time.

“With it being a ball, everyone came dressed for the occasion in tuxedos, cocktail dresses, kilts, tartan trews and suits.

“The whole evening started off with drinks and canapés and a casino.

“Everyone had a great time and was eager to have a go on the tables, which were very busy for the two hours of gaming time.

“Following this we had a fantastic raffle and auction, finishing off the night with the Bald Eagles live band.

“With the sale of the tickets, raffle, and a few prizes for the auction we made a phenomenal total of over £8200.”

Gillian continued: “We had cash sponsors who helped cover the cost of the hire of the casino tables and other expenses.

“They were Stephen Gardiner Construction, Ochil Timber, Duncan and

Jenny King, Docherty’s Midland Coaches and the Highland Spring Group.

“We also had sponsors who gifted their time, services and also gifts for our raffle and auction on the night – Robin Bain Signs, Paperclipz, Cafe Kisa, Strathearn Food Company, the Bald Eagles Band, Duncan and Jenny King, Andrew Fairlie Restaurant and Gleneagles Hotel.

“All of us would like to give our sincere thanks to them all.

“We will be forever grateful for their help. Without it, it would not have been possible to raise as much as we did.”

She added: “It was an evening which took six months for us to plan and we’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came and contributed to our event, without whom it would not have been the success that it was.

“We will be donating the funds to Sands and hope to keep it within the area or within Scotland Sands.”

The successful event took place at the Lang Toon venue on Saturday, April 29.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came and contributed to our event, without whom it would not have been the success that it was Gillian Mackie
