Restaurant takes a top spot in poll
Gleneagles eatery is hailed
The two Michelin- starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie has been voted among the country’s top three restaurants in a national diners’ poll.
Last year, the famous Gleneagles restaurant took the top spot in Harden’s Top 100 Best UK Restaurants and is delighted to have retained a podium position, at number three on the list for 2024.
The establishment was once again applauded unanimously in diners’ reports for its “exceptional cuisine”.
Harden’s Top 100 Best UK Restaurants is an influential guide which ranks the UK’s best dining destinations.
Stevie McLaughlin, head chef at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, commented: “We’re thrilled to have been recognised as one of the top three restaurants in the UK.
“We were honoured last year to be crowned number one in the Harden’s Guide, and to remain in the top three on the back of this is an unexpected - and very welcome - accolade.
“We’re proud to know that while guests are coming to us with high expectations, we’re continuing to meet and even surpass them.
“As a diner-led poll, a positive Harden’s ranking is a special honour.
“This is a true testament to the hard work of the full team to ensure every guest has the best possible experience with us.”
The world-renowned restaurant is led by head chef Stevie and general manager, Dale Dewsbury, who have worked together at the helm of Restaurant Andrew Fairlie following the death of founder, Andrew Fairlie, in January 2019.
Both Stevie and Dale were a core part of the team that launched Restaurant Andrew Fairlie in 2001.
Stevie became head chef in 2006, while Dale has been general manager since 2012.
Co-founder of Harden’s, Peter Harden, said tastes were changing: “London’s grip on the Top 100 list is the weakest that we have ever recorded (the lowest previous figure was 41 in the 2020 guide).
“Whilst 12 months is too little data for firm pronouncements, this swing to the shires may reflect the increasing excellence of dining out across the UK.
“As one of our most consistently
performing restaurants in the guide, it is fantastic to see last year’s winner Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles still in the top three and even more of Scotland’s culinary stars finding their way into the Top 100 and Top 500, coming together to place the city of Edinburgh in particular at the forefront of the UK’s dining scene.”
