DESERVEDWIN FOR PRIMROSE
Victory over Stanley in President’s Cup
Auchterarder Primrose made a welcome return to the Lang Toon on Thursday last week and secured a 4-2 win over Stanley in the President’s Cup.
The evening home fixture came off the back of a run of five away games in a row.
An early Stanley red card and resulting penalty saw Ally Reid score his second spot- kick for Primrose in as many games.
Stanley then found themselves down to nine men mid-way through the first half as their keeper saw red after a challenge outside the box when he was the last man.
Reid grabbed his second goal of the game on the half-hour mark following a good header from a Ryan Slamon cross.
Just before half-time, Primrose made it 3- 0 when Aiden MacGillivray headed home a Ross Donaghy corner.
The second half was a quieter affair.
Stanley worked hard, while Primrose took their foot off the gas.
Visitors Stanley pulled a goal back, which jolted Primrose back in to life and resulted in Slamon adding a fourth goal for the home team.
Stanley grabbed a late second goal, but it was too late for a comeback and the better team on the night ended up with the win.
Primrose were without a match at the weekend and saw a scheduled match against Methven on Tuesday postponed as a result of a waterlogged pitch.
The club’s next fixture is due to be against Wolfhill at home on Saturday.
