Iphone 12 & 12 Mini

-

If you reckon you can cope without Lidar autofocus and PRORAW photography – and let’s be honest, a lot of people probably can – the basic iphone 12 (from £799) still has plenty to offer. Thinner, smaller and lighter than the iphone 11, but still with a 6.1in Super Retina XDR screen, it’s got the same A14 Bionic chip as the 12 Pro and will also do 5G.

There are only two 12MP cameras round the back, but computational photography tricks mean you’ll get better low-light results, including night timelapse videos.

For those who want top-end specs but don’t want to carry around such a big slab of glass, there’s also the iphone 12 Mini (from £699), which crams all the same stuff into a chassis with a 5.4in screen. That’s more titchy than the iphone 8, making it the smallest 5G phone you can buy.

Both models have aluminium edges and come in five different colours – white, black, blue, green and (Product) Red – with storage options starting at a stingy 64GB and maxing out at 256GB.
