Let’s have a Go, then…

From keyboard to trackpad to fingerprint sensors, what it’s like fondling the featherweight Laptop Go?

-

n Go dark

Tapping away on the Go’s full-size keyboard is a pleasure – during daylight hours anyway. Microsoft has decided not to bother with a backlit keyboard, which feels like a cost-cut too far in this price range.

n Go further

The expansive trackpad is superb, with pinpoint tracking and a reassuringly clicky response; but if you’re planning on using this as part of a desktop setup you can also switch to Bluetooth peripherals.

n Go steady

The soft-touch keys are springy with a decent amount of travel, the only real compromise being the half-height up and down arrows. Rubberised feet run the whole width of the laptop to keep it stable.

n Touch and Go

On the two better models, the power button doubles as a fingerprint sensor. The entry-level Go does without… and none of them can use the 720p webcam for Windows Hello facial recognition.
