● The e-208’s slick dashboard and strikingly small steering wheel are joined by an equally classy and stealthy gear lever in full-grain leather and satin-chrome. It’s a simple drive/ neutral/reverse affair, but nudge that lever into ‘B’ mode and you get all the benefits of regenerative braking.

● The VW’S gear selector is uniquely located on a screen that sits just behind the steering wheel. It’s simply a case of twisting it into ‘D’ to get going, rotating backwards for reverse, or forwards again to enter ‘B’ mode – which, as in the e-208, boosts the regenerative braking to eke out more mileage.
