Every little thing 3 does is Mavic

The Mavic 3’s dual camera is a revelation, even if one half of it is much more impressive than the other…

’Blad, not bad

The Hasselblad-branded main module uses a 20MP 4/3 CMOS sensor. General image quality is excellent, and the three-axis gimbal keeps everything steady even when the drone is being buffeted by wind.

Slight, not bright

The secondary camera is less of a winner. The image quality from this much smaller 12MP sensor is distinctly softer, with much less punch, especially in the digital zoom modes.

High, not shy

The sensor’s extra size offers up to 12.8 stops of dynamic range, giving images a clean and natural look. It also captures excellent pictures and video in twilight and even after dark.

Zoomy, not gloomy

The zoom is easy to use, though, and does offer unusual perspectives. DJI suggests you use it to scout out potential locations before flying closer and deploying the Hasselblad in anger.

While DJI’S Air 2S offers better value for money and is more than capable enough for most pilots, it’s impossible not to be impressed by the Mavic 3. From the incredible battery life to the rock-steady stability and the beautiful image quality from its Hasselblad camera, this is a top all-round premium addition to the company’s range of folding drones. @samkieldsen
